Inaugural post

As colleagues that both practice and study the instructional design process in post-secondary settings, for the past two years we have been talking to instructional designers about their roles, their jobs, their expereinces, their ideas, their futures.....

One important thing that repeatedly came up was a desire among designers to connect with other designers. We are initiating this blog as a place to lay the foundation for a community of practice. It will act as a repository for ideas, resources and stories about ID, and we hope it will also become a place for conversation. This isn't a chat room, but a place where you can drop in and say something, tell a story, share an idea or resource or most anything else.

We are very interested in your stories of design - how you became a designer, what you think is important about instructional design, how we are having an impact in our institutions, your joys and your frustrations working with instructors, administrators, team members..... Please come and share your experiences with a sympathetic community who really knows what your life is like on a daily basis!

Next post... how to join the conversation.
